Canadian Junior Open
Wednesday, 02 January 2013

The same weekend as the Century Doubles, club pro Dave Morrish accompanied the 4 best juniors in the club (Duncan and Arden McKillop, Nicola Crich and Bryan Hill), to the Canadian Open in Niagara.

With players from all over the globe, the level was high. Bryan Hill and Nicola Crich played in the under 17 boys and girls respectively, and both played some good squash, winning 1 and losing 2. Nicola came into the tournament on the back of a silver tournament win in Toronto.

Duncan McKillop (Boys U15) narrowly lost to the number 1 seed in the round of 16 in 3 very close fought games. He went down in the consolation round, finishing the tournament with 2 wins and 2 losses.

The star of the weekend was Arden McKillop who finished 5th in the Girls U15. She had to play the same girl she beat to become Ontario Champion, in the first round, and won in 5. She was outplayed by a Mexican in the quarter finals. After winning 2 matches in the consolation draw she was pitted against her first round opponent again and this time won in 3 straight.

Both Duncan and Arden went to the US open in Boston. This was a tougher event than the Canadian Open and neither progressed past the 2nd round of the consolation draw.
